Animals in the Attic is the brainchild of LA-based musician Spencer Rakela, with a number of musicians including Nick De La O, Geoffrey Luoma, Taylor Mesich, Emery Mesich, and Clayton LaFlamme bringing the songs to their finished studio forms and live versions over the years. The band's sound has evolved since the classic indie release Half-Asleep Surf (2016) to the alt country sounds on the recent EP Do U Still (2024). Beneath this sonic growth is an underlying timeless ethos- a relentless yearning for connection and unfaltering optimism in the face of a world gone mad. The project is truly independent, with production and equipment funded by tips from late nights behind the bar and with the help of talented friends.
